Cervical screening
Our practice nurses undertake cervical smears. All sexually active women between the ages of 25 and 65 are advised to have a cervical smear test. Cervical smears are recommended every three years for women aged 25-50 and every five years for women 50-65 years. The test is important as it can detect early signs of pre-cancer of the cervix which can be easily treated. Normally the Health Authority will remind women when their next test is due. If you think you are overdue for a test and have not been sent an invitation please contact the surgery. The test result will be sent to your home address or alternatively it can be viewed in your NHS Account in the NHS App.
